Living this digital life, my brain was stimulated by screens at all hours. I found myself more and more forgetful and numb. I lost the sense of time, as well as many feelings. Sometimes I need to go through pictures I took or notes I wrote to remind myself the feelings I had.&nbsp;I wanted to remember everything but the only way I could think about was using digital devices to record the moments. Yet it still lost its liveness. Then I started&nbsp;to make this red dots story.&nbsp;The main character notices&nbsp;more and more red dots appear&nbsp;in her life. When she decides&nbsp;to figure out why it happens,&nbsp;she finds out that those red dots are actually put by herself as a way to remember.&nbsp;However, as she forgets more and more, instead of remembering the content, she only remembers the functionality of it. The audience can not only listen to ASMR sound and comment on Instagram live, but also have physical interaction with me. ︎The second one was at the opening night at Sol Koffler Gallery. To emphysize on making the spectacle, I binge ate a KFC bucket with&nbsp;exaggerated facial expression. In the end, I threw up everything I ate into the same bucket, as many Mukbang braodcaster does.︎The third one was in public but without any audience. I didn’t think much about it until the app automatically erased my piercing, and I got a little bit mad because the ‘beauty app’ doesn’t think my cheek piercing is pretty. When I looked at other auto-modifications, I suddenly realized that there’s such a huge cultural bias that was reinforced by this kind of technology. In Face and Mask: a double history, Hans mentioned that by looking into the mirror, we not only have ourselves looking back, we also see the social gaze. The masks we put on are not only shaped by ourselves but also sculpted by the culture we are in. The ‘beauty’ templates and filters in that app are like foot-bonding or Corsets in the modern age. Over years, I’m more and more experienced in having a seemingly smaller face in pictures, due to the unceasing comments on the size of my face since middle school. Putting the gestures around my face over and over again, my hands feel like a separate part from my body. FM (frequency modulation) is an exploration of the in-between, and a process of finding the right channel to communicate.&nbsp; 通过群体声音共鸣和肢体探索与外界的交流方式，探索一种临界状态。 Score for the performance&nbsp; It’s a practice of noticing another being, opening yourself up to them, listening to them and becoming them. Have LED lights plugged on the wall. Lie yourself down at the other side of the room in a comfortable position.Let your face exposed under the light and keep your eyes closed for the whole process. Begin by observing your breathing and your body. Gradually allow your breathing to become audible and follow the impulse of your body to move. Modulate your frequency after each breath to communicate with other beings (lights and other people). Feel the colour of the light with closing eyes. Move towards the light when it’s talking back visually.Take your time to find the right range of frequency and a comfortable distance between you and the light. When everyone settled with their lights, plug the LED lights off. ︎
